Pushkar is a small town near Ajmer in Rajasthan, situated around the charming Pushkar Lake, sacred to the Hindus. Other than the famous Brahma temple, there are more than 500 other temples in Pushkar. A dip in the holy lake is considered auspicious.
The ghats (steps) are used to do religious rituals & ceremonies and for bathing. The string of temples along the ghats mostly painted in bluish-white look gorgeous reflecting in the calm waters of Pushkar Lake. Its peaceful and relaxing to sit by the steps along the lake, or at one of the terrace cafes with a lake view and watch the world go by. A gallery of images around Pushkar Lake.
I enjoyed the colorful Pushkar Mela & the Camel fair, the flavourful vegetarian food and delicious sweets, but If I were to pick a favourite place in Pushkar, it would be by the tranquil ghats of the lake.

Some beautiful visuals, Ritu! I love how you’ve captured the mood of the palce.
Thanks Uday 🙂 It’s a beautiful place and looks quite dramatic at sunset/ sunrise!
Great shots… Loved the sunset pic…
Thanks 🙂
Your photos are so incredibly beautiful! I wish I could see each one in the collage in the full screen format. They are absolutely lovely!
Thanks Nicole 🙂
Beautiful photos, especially that sunset. Magnificent. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Gorgeous colours. 🙂
Thanks Jo! 🙂
The lake looks quite small. But, I have no doubt, all bodies of water are holy in India. I’m definitely a water person. Did you see any events on the ghats whilst you were there?
Events…I saw the evening puja & aarti, the prayers which are done every morning & evening. Other than that there are musicians sitting by the ghats and playing various instruments and a flock of birds passes every now and then 🙂 It’s relaxing to sit by the ghats and just watch life pass by 🙂
Incredibly beautiful Ritu! Seeing all the images together – such a treat! Love them. I wish I were there with you.
Thanks Pramida, Yeah! Wish you were there! And now don’t know when we’ll get to meet! Hoping soon! 🙂
