Coorg: Berry Coffee!

Coffee Coorg

Coorg is a beautiful hilly town in Karnataka, known for coffee plantations, beautiful views of the hills, and awesome Coorgi food –ย Pandi curry or pork curry with Kadambuttu or rice balls. Other than coffee and spices, honey from Coorg is one of the best. It’s a peaceful weekend destination a few hours away from Bangalore and Mysore, with beautiful views of the western ghats, coffee, spicy food, nature and chirping birds; a paradise! ๐Ÿ™‚

Coorg Coorg

Coffee, one of the most widely consumed beverages, comes from theย coffeeย bean, seed of a coffee plant. My first visit to a coffee plantation was in the hills ofย Coorgย (Kodagu), and I learnt that the fruit of coffee, commonly called a โ€˜beanโ€™ is actually a โ€˜berryโ€™! The coffee berries ripen to a beautiful crimson before they are ready for picking. The berries are hand-picked and undergo several processes before we get the roasted coffee beans, to use for brewing.ย Coffee berries at a plantation in Coorg, Karnataka, India.
